What is the 5 Elements Aromaflexology

As many people experienced one time or another throughout their self-development and health improvement,
allopathic medicine, plant therapies, and energetic healing can work very efficiently combined together.

The combination of two ancient methods

The 5 Elements Aromaflexology is  the use of specific essential oils to balance each of the 5 Elements according to TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine), using a hand-on therapy such as Reflexology. The aromatic and therapeutic effect of essential oils, reinforce our sense of smell, helping in re-connecting with our emotions, soothe the nervous system and helps in relieving anxiety. The touch from the flowing movement of my hands onto your feet and hands, helps re-chanelling the flow of your own energy throughout your whole body. Blockages created by physical or emotional toxins, are relieved by the combination of these two powerful energetic, soothing and healing therapies.

What is Reflexology

Although, Imhotep, an Egyptian considered being the grandfather of both aromatherapy and reflexology, 3000BC, it was Eunice Ingham, a physiotherapist, and a student of William Fitzgerald’s zone theory in the 1930s, who mapped out the entire body onto the feet. Art and science of reflexology was then born. She became the mother of reflexology, who discovered that feet were the most responsive to healing touch. Reflexology is a technique of applying pressure onto specific reflexes of the feet, in order to bring the body into a deep state of relaxation. It allows the body to reset its mechanisms relating to digestive, hormonal or nervous systems as to minimise stress to an acceptable level.

Reflexology brings your body into what is called a hypnagogic and hypnopompic state. What this means is that, as I apply Reflexology onto your hands and feet, your body naturally goes into a deep state of relaxation, physically and emotionally. When your body has reached that deeper state of relaxation, you could experience sensory events within your body, as your unconsciousness keeps you into a transition from wakefulness to sleep (hypnagogic) or from sleep to wakefulness (hypnopompic).

Some people describe very clearly what they experienced while in this transition. They can even describe it as telling me what they saw, touched, smelt, tasted or even heard. This is a form of self-hypnosis, as your own mind allows itself to go into a deep state of relaxation.

Our body is so clever at finding ways to reset itself into a more balanced state when given a chance.

A stress-relief method

The 5 Elements  Aromaflexology is a non-intrusive complementary therapy, and while it does not and should not take the place of medical advice, it can comfortably work alongside medical care, especially with problems that affect the whole body. The 5 Elements Aromaflexology can fit into a busy lifestyle, and can easily be part of an individual's coping strategy, resulting in multi-systems relaxation and increased well-being.

98% of the essential oils and carriers I use, are top grade therapeutic quality, and are 100% certified organic.
The rest of the essential oils and carriers I use, are either:

  • Certified organic wild
  • Wild grown
  • Conventional farming
  • Absolute

For more info about the different cultivation methods, read below

Essential Oils Cultivation

Certified Organic Farming [cert org] - No use of chemical fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, fungicides. Distillation usually under low pressure. No overheating. Slow distillation in order to preserve the maximum number of active components in the essential oil which contribute to its special aromatic effect and healing power. If an oil is distilled too quickly (high pressure, high temperature), many of these precious elements are lost.

Certified organic wild [cert org wild] - Essential oils derived from wild-grown plants, harvested and distilled according to certified organic regulations. Production does not differ from certified organic essential oils.
Wild-grown [wild] - These essential oils stem from wild-growing plants. They may be produced in larger quantities (e.g. Eucalyptus, Tea-tree, Siberian pine, etc.) but have not undergone chemical treatment.

Conventional farming [Conventional] - As with certified organic no use of chemical fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, fungicides. Distillation usually under low pressure. No overheating, usually slow distillation. The farmer is not a member of one of the controlling organizations, but planting, harvesting and distilling are performed according to the old traditional methods without any use of chemical substances. Because of my supplier's close personal contact with these farmers, he is able to monitor their work and feel confident, that no chemicals are used in the cultivation of plants and manufacturing of their essential oils.

Absolute [abs] - Some plants are not suited to the distillation process, because they lose aroma, properties, or yield. In these cases the plant material may be obtained by solvent extraction. The final product from this process is known as an absolute. All the absolutes used at 4 Balance and Health are from hexane extraction, unless otherwise stated.

The consultation for Aromaflexology

I will need 1h30 of your time for your first consultation which will include a questionnaire and a treatment.

By incorporating the 5 Elements philosophy (Traditional Chinese Medicine), I will tailor a blend of essential oils to your uniqueness and work therapeutically, combining them with a Reflexology treatment. The blend is carefully chosen, to work on the imbalances that I concluded you might have, which will be of course, relevant to what we would have also discussed throughout your consultation.

I recommend a weekly treatment for another 3 weeks after your initial appointment.
A follow-up treatment is advisable one month later, and a maintenance regime of a monthly treatment until the desired state of health is obtained.
